2020 FCCMA Winter Institute

FCCMAFebruary 6- 7, 2020 – Daytona Beach

The FCCMA Winter Institute is designed to be an intense, interactive workshop for Florida’s city and county managers and assistants. Attendance is limited to 90 FCCMA members and up to 15 Business Watch members. Signature membership or higher is the only way to attend this small group, intensive two day session.

This is 2020’s most interactive event allowing you to engage one-on-one with city and county managers in a peer-to-peer setting.

This year’s focus is on the City/County of the Future. Participants will explore the future government through three different viewpoints.

  • Employer: How does the employer create a great place to work? How will you recruit talented people to your organization in the future?
  • Citizen: What will the external stakeholders (citizens, businesses, etc.) expect from government?
  • Employee: What skills will employees need to work in the city/county of the future?

Our facilitator is Larry Schooler, Ph.D., senior fellow for the National League of Cities and the Annette Strauss Institute for Civic Life at the University of Texas. Speakers include David Houle, a futurist and author of 10 books including The Shift Age and Moving to a Finite Earth Economy – Crew Manual and Richard Hadden, author and leadership consultant who focuses on the connection between people and profit through his Contended Cows leadership book series.

Thursday, February 6, 2020 (8:00 am to 6:30 pm)

Includes continental breakfast, lunch and a social reception with sessions running 9 am to 4 pm.

Friday, February 7, 2020 (7:30 am to noon)

Includes breakfast and sessions running 9 am to noon.

Hotel Information

The host hotel is the Hilton Daytona Beach Oceanfront, 100 N. Atlantic Avenue, Daytona Beach. The rate is $139 per night. The cut-off date is 1/10/20 but could fill before then. Room block info will be shared once registration is complete


Registration will close as soon as all seats are filled, likely by Tuesday, January 21st.

The registration cost is $1,500 which includes two breakfasts and Thursday’s lunch.  Enrollment is limited to 90 FCCMA members and up to 15 Business Watch members.  Registration is not final until payment is received.
